Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. In addition, we’ll also discuss compassionate communication techniques and managing challenging behaviors associated with dementia.
Family Education Three-Part Series
Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia (Part 1) and will take place on Wednesday, August 15, at 11 a.m. In this class you will learn about detection, causes, risk factors, stages and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
Effective Communication Strategies (Part 2) will take place on Wednesday, September 19 at 11 a.m. This class will go over decoding the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia. We will also identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.
Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior (Part 3) will take place on Wednesday, October 17 at 11 a.m. We will discuss some of the common triggers for behaviors associated with dementia. In addition, we will address how to assess a person’s needs and how to intervene effectively.
