First of all, we’re proud to share our Memory Care Villa is open and providing care for those with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia. As a result, we also know there is a great need for tools, information and support for families. Therefore, it is with great excitement that we announce our educational initiative for the new year.
We are pleased to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association’s California Southland Chapter in hosting the Family Education Series. This three-part series provides attendees with education, practical guidance and tools to those caring for someone with dementia.
In addition, topics include Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, techniques for communicating compassionately and how to manage challenging behaviors associated with dementia.
Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia Series
The Basics: Memory loss, Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease
The first seminar takes place on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Topics include detection, causes, risk factors, stages and the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
Effective Communication Strategies
The second seminar takes place on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. During this seminar, attendees learn how to decode behavioral and verbal messages from someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help caregivers communicate and connect at each stage of the disease.
Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior
The third and final seminar takes place on Friday, March 9 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Attendees learn about the common triggers of behaviors associated with dementia, how to asses the needs of the individual and how to effectively intervene.

Finally, each seminar will be hosted at Renaissance Village Murrieta: 24271 Jackson Ave. Murrieta, CA 92562. The Alzheimer’s Association’s California Southland Chapter will also present each seminar topic. Most noteworthy, this event is free and open to the public.
